How to create a Quinceañera & Sweet 16
Budget
Creating a budget is important
because it forces you to think about the type of party you want
and the type of party you can actually afford.
It is very important to be realistic when
creating your budget. So create a budget before spending
any money, and stick to the budget.

STEP
1 –
Talk to your parents about what kind of quinceañero you want.
Talk about the theme, colors, reception halls, clothing,
invitations, flowers, music and food, etc.
Step 2
– Make a list of the things needed on your special day.
Example: quinceañero planner, church location,
reception
hall, food, beverages, cake,
disc jockeys,
invitations, clothing,
transportation,
etc…
Step 3
– Prioritize your list. What is more important to you? Is the
transportation more important than the videographer? Where can
you cut corners without changing the overall look and feel of
your party.
Step
4 – How much money is available for the celebration? How
much money can you save? Will you have godparents (padrinos) to
help fund the cost of the quinceañero? If so, which items will
they help pay for.
Step 5
–
How much money do you think you will need? An average
quinceañero party costs between $8,000 - $15,000. Below is a
chart you can use to estimate how much money to spend on various
categories. Adjust the percentages according to your
preferences and priorities.
-
Reception
- should be about 50% of your budget.
-
Clothing - 10% of the budget. This includes, the
quinceañera’s attire, the court’s clothing including tuxedo
rentals. Save money by purchasing
packages.
-
Flowers -
10% of the budget.
-
Photography - 10% of the budget.
-
How will
you use the remaining 20% of your budget? Refer to the list
you previously created.

Step 6
– Make a plan to save the amount of money needed in a timely
manner.
Step 7
– Keep a record of your estimated costs versus the amount you
actually spent.
Step 8
–
Compare your estimated costs versus amount actually spent. If
you over spent in one category, make adjustments in another
category for the difference.
